Hey guys, need a little bit of help,
The last time i drove my celica the indicators just decided to stop working for no reason. Now that i got the car going again i really need to fix this problem. The indicators flash no problems when the hazards are on, its not like they are sticking or going really quick so i can pretty safely rule out the flasher box not working. The 2 wires (red with yellow stripe and red with white stripe) that run from the indicator assembly and go down the steering shaft and into a loom are not getting power when the stalk is turned either way to activate the signal or when the hazards is going.
Should these wires be getting power only when the stalk is moved or should they be getting constant power and use the little points things that move back and forward to turn the power off and then back on? If so where should the power be coming from?
All help greatly appreciated, i really wanna take the car for a drive but can't because of this![]()
Cheers, joey

The front (and possibly rear too) indicators for the early celicas only use one wire (+ve) for power. They complete the circut by earthing back to the chassis using the light housing and the bumper bar.
If there is anything preventing a decent connection (such as loose mountings or corrosion), all sorts of weird shit can happen with them.
It is also possible that the flasher can has died. They can do unpredictable stuff when this happens.

Terry

See if your hazard switch is actually pushed in all the way when you turn off the hazards.
I had an issue where the dash was cracked and when i pushed the hazard knob in it turned off the hazards but didn't disengage completely and my indicators wouldn't work. Was so annoying and damn hard to find.
is it the indicator tree?
1k - idle//*PEDAL DOWN*//2k - waiting//3k - waiting//4k - BOOM//7k - Ease up Tiger.
Contacts in the combo switch burnt out?
Flashed can dead?
And Hazard switch busted?
Do the hazards work or nothing works?

Problem solved guys! Poida was right on the money, the hazard switch is a bit rooted and i needed to take it out of the facia to close it completely! It would have taken me many a hour to find that out bymyself. Been cruising all afternoonThanks for the help guys, epecially poida and ian

Good that you got it solved. My mate once pushed the switch through the facia as it was old and bit brittle. This indicator thing drove me nuts as the hazards worked and they seemed to turn off...
