Folks
The AE92 SX and GTi send a speed signal back to the ECU from the instrument cluster.
As these clusters seem hard to get ahold of, are there any other cars (such as Camry) that I might be able to use a signal generator from to get a signal back to my friendly ECU?
Anyone know? I'm keen to investigate.

This link should get you out of trouble
I am the sun
any EFI ae92 cluster should get you out of trouble if your fc cluster doesn't have the reed switch internally.
Grega, i looked into this ages ago, dunno about ass draggers, but the australian delivered AE86 sprinter cluster does generate a speed signal.
i'll see if i can fish out some photos, basically get you cluster, spin the speedo drive with a match stick and buzz things with your multimeter until you hear "beep beep beep"
i hooked the signal up to the ECU, but i couldnt get the damn thing to work, i couldnt be bothered pulling the lcuster out again, so there are just random wires going everywhere now, NFI what they are doing
EDIT: here, have a read

yeah just grab any AE9* series instrument cluster from an EFI model... and it will have the SPD signal generator - that includes 4AFE, 7AFE and 4AGE.
...... butt scratcher?!
