Does anybody know who makes a lightened flywheel in 230mm? and a clutch to suit?
Ive only heard about 212mm and 224 at most in custom clutches. Its to suit a 4agte to a w58 btw.
Cheers
Search around for lightened flywheel manufacturers (there was a list made somewhere) and ring them. Alloy Race Components in Melbourne spring to mind, or speak with Meridian Motorsport, they distribute them.
I'd say that they will be able to do it, even if it's a custom job. As for clutch, just talk to any decent clutch shop. They can cross reference and find a clutch to suit, or get something custom made.
I drive a Volvo.... sideways.
Fidanza make them. Any1 who has a Rocket Industries catalogue should be able to get them. I was quoted around the $600 figure the other day for an aluminium flywheel.
Don't worry what people think, they don't do it very often.

P.S the 224 GZE flywheel only JUST fits the nite part housing once you mod it........ So a 230mm (if there is such a thing ) will be near impossible to fit ( depending on pressure plate design ) if you are using a nite parts housing.

300+rwkw 4agte http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/for...wkw-4agte.html
Thats what i was going to suggest that the 230mm may not fit in the bellhousing.
also isnt the 4agze now a 4agte? Wouldnt the lighter flywheel make it spool not as quick as a heavy flywheel?
hmm i thought i would have spooled quicker, lighter fly revvier engine quicker on boost?
230mm fly is no myth i can take a photo of mine if u like.
I was led to beleive that the niteparts bellhousings (like mine) are fine for the ze flywheels. So is it just the 224 that fits.
Im sure all toyota has done is extended the surface where the clutch grabs not the whole flywheel itself!!!!!
This is evident cos 224mm flys are interchangable with 230mm flys with no mods so this suggests to me my statement above.
As for the clutch excedy make clutches for 230mm flys. HD organic or what iv gone for is the sports racing i think they are called.
Its a TRD copy so 3 puck sprung center metal plates and one hell of a heavy and tough clutch cover which is where its at for clutches if you want something that wont slip!!
And just a quick off topic question wouldnt a lighter fly put the balancing of the crank out as would those lightened underdrive pullies???? This seems weird to do something that i think would greatly jepordise the balancing of the engine's internals!!!!

It all depends on where you are measuring. There wern't any flywheels for the 4A developed bigger than the AE92/AE101 GZE flys. They are 224mm clutchplate diameter. Even though the machined surface is around 228mm.
As for a lightened flywheel, you arnt going to notice the difference once you bolt a pressureplate capable of holding a button clutch to it anyway. Especially not on a turbo engine, the restrictions in intake and exhaust (turbo and intercooler) make it non-worthwhile unless you are at 11/10ths.

hmm
Yea well my machines surface was very close to 230mm.
So a clutch to suit this will just fit with my niteparts housing according to you takai?
Well if you machined the niteparts bellhousing, i would assume it would fit.

does anyone know if a 1jz flywheel would fit cause lots of toyota,s have the same bolt pattern. i have a super light os flywheel/clutch setup and a lighter flywheel will make your engine lots more responsive and also spool up quicker. cheers bigwad

The 224mm GZE clutch kit pressure plate can't physically bolt onto a 230mm GZE flywheel.
You can also see there's a difference on TRD's own site when comparing the two different GZE clutches available for the early and late AE92 GTZ's: http://www.trdparts.jp/english/list_ae92.html
MAP/AFM isnt a good delineator then, because my MAP AE92 GZE came with a 224mm fly.
JZ cranks are a MUCH larger PCD than 4A.

then go from october 1990 build 4agze's. Every MAP GZE I've ever had has had the 230mm clutch setup that most clutch places dont think exists. NPC in Brisbane fortunately do know about them.
My MAP GZE was an 08/1991 build.

then it's possible it had a flywheel change in Japan
The Exedy part numbers for the 230mm setup with 252.5mm pressure plate PCD are:
plate : tyd098u
cover :tyc564 (pressure plate)
bearing: brg2230

Unless it was done by another workshop i doubt it, i have the service logs here.
