hi,
i recently bought a mz20 soarer with an auto box and recently got a bhgnow the car is my daily and im only hoping for say 300 rwhp so what should i do should a get the block and head resurfaced and a get a mhg or should i do a full rebuild? or should i just freshen the head surface up and replace it with and oem gasket? also how much is the cost of a rebuild and or resurface? also ive only got about 3 grand to play with and in that 3 g id also like to do a w58 manual conversion

depends how severe the BHG was, depending on under what condiditions it happened, whether you continued to drive it while hot etc.
but either way, you'll need to have the block and head resurfaced if youw ant to expect any kind of reliability, and while you have it apart, the head reco guy will be able to tell you if your heads usable (as i said before, coniditon etc. etc.)
as the block is iron, it generally is as strong as an ox, only failing if its put under severe conditions, so if you blew it under stock coniditions, it will be fine, it will just need a resurface, depending on mileage, may need a rebuild.
make no mistake, doing it properly is not an "easy, quick, dodge job", you need to pull the motor out of the car, pull the head off, strip the block (crank, rods pistons, everything) to get the block machined flat (check what finish you need for the MHG your gonna be using), while the head is a bit simpler, depending on the conidition, if its in decent nick, and just requires a quick machine to get flat (i had mine done in a couple of hours, including having a bit of metal welded back in) you'll be able to leave the cams/valves etc. etc. in.
however, if the head is too far gone, and needs a reco, you'll save a bit of coin taking it all apart yourself (just remember what goes where, every part has its place and they arent able to be switched around).

well i was runing 10pound and i drove it home which is like a 5 min drive not under any load though all down hill and it was staying in the hot zone so what damage mitve been done yeah im pulling it out asap

170,000km's isnt as bad as you might think, but it'll depends very much, at that amount of k's, how the engine has been treated, you'll be able to tell when you get it all apart (checking the finish on the bores etc.)
staying slightly in the hot zone doesnt matter much, especially if its only in it for a short time period.
saying that, it looks like you drove it home under the hot condition, so it must have been pretty severe, that extra half an hour you saved pushing it past its limit, rather than stopping, letting it cool down, and continuing, may have just warped your head past a usable state.
once again, something you'll be able to check once you have it all apart. just make sure you do it properly, and not a "she be right" job, as you'll most likely be back here saying how you shouldve gone with a different motor in a couple of months.

i just bought a standard gasket kit and arp head stud kit if i over torque the head studs will i be able to run 12psi without getting a bhg? also the head isnt warped
