    Default 7m inlet manifolds

I just interested to know what difference you would see on a 7m between a cressida inlet manifold and a supra one?

Someone off the Cressida forums has tried this, apprently it is not worth the time, hassle and most of all cost.

N/a Crowns also had the Y set up. I had one out of 7M crown in my MS53 it turned some real good numbers.

I didn't think that it was supra vs Mx83 more early verses late series. I though some of the early MA70 still had the T duct.

Also I think the Y set up engines also have different AFM. As mine didn't have a flap.

ok, i am in the process of buying a non turbo piece of poo for my mx73 as my 5mge now seem to have an oil consumption problem. I want to get as much power as possible on a budget, being a family man and all, i thought this may have been a option for improvment.
Im planning on just doing a full rebuild with a nice exhaust and and intake is the plan so far. Im going to pick up the motor from Rod on monday hopefully so i can make a start on it. I think if i can squeeze 100rwkw out of it i will be happy.
i have also noted that the 1j uses a y type inlet as well.
Im happy to take on any suggestions for building one of these motors.

    Cheers pete

possibly acis? or some variation of variable inlet runner length? Can't see there being a big difference between them.

They make over 100 rwkW in standard form. If you get less, you'll have done something wrong.

The Y pipe one has a butterfly in the intake plenum - works to modify the inlet runner length to enhance torque at lower rpm. The system is known as Acoustic Control Intake System (ACIS). If you get that plenum, make sure the 7MGE ECU you use is able to run the VSV that activates the butterfly.

The Crown 7MGEs (130 series) have a Karmann Vortex style AFM rather than flap style. Other thing is the Crown ones inside look a bit different to the standard Aussie fare. Cambelt pulled one apart - def had higher comp pistons and head was different too. Probably why yours pulled great numbers Stitty.

    I've got a 1986 magazine with a photo of a 7MGE Supra that definately has ACIS, and I own a 1990 MX83 that has no ACIS. So I don't vote for early/late.

108.7 or 107.8 rwkw. (A little less than rona)

Thats stock with 2.5 exhaust and a pod filter.

I was really happy with the driveasbility of it and it seemed to rev real well to.

I'll try and get JesseT18 into this thread as that is were my engine now lives

cool the more info the better, sadly my 5ge only revs to about 5g before power falls off drastically and with the 4.11 diff its a bit sad, so im hoping with a fresh 7m i should be able to squeeze some more revs out of it. how hard do they rev?
Also any ideas on a optimum size exhaust for this engine, i was thinking of going 2 1/4 to try and retain some torque.
