HI,
Has anybody bothered to take their dash apart on the 40 to see what speakers are fitted fomr factory? I was wondering what size they were. Also whats the most popular place to fit an aftermarket stereo, I'll hack the dash if I have to but I ws wondering if there a better place. Thanks .
the front RA40 speakers are something like 3" by 4" oval things not worth the magnets they contain.
they are a COMPLETE BITCH to get to let alone remove and replace.
i had a good set of rear speakers in mine and i hooked the fronts up to fill that little bit of dead space there was. They did that job fine but you couldnt do much without overdriving them
as for stereo places the easiest is to cut the dash and put it where the standard radio is, the tape deck is another COMPLETE BITCH to remove due to 1 screw that u cant get to (probably to prevent theft when you parked at penrith station back in 1980) so u dont want to put it there (its also smaller than a standard DIN size)
else only other place is the shelf above the passengers legs or the glove box

yes,
dash is a bitch to remove for the 1st time but its easy after that
speakers about 6 x 4" for memory.....pitiful quality
i originally had my kenwood in the position of the old FM radio....but now my gauges are there.
so i did this
radio/CD , power window switches, thermo fan switch, turbo timer all mounted in that new panel.
i removed the cig lighter and ash tray since they are useless to me
yes, theres a hole and yes its in a mess!
hello
Why not get to work and fit some 6.5's into the doors? No point farting around with the other things...
