Carina crossmember into RA28

Im dropping a 3tgte into my RA28 soon and have been hunting a TA23 crossmember, But i have seen some info that a carina crossmember will do the trick, this would be good as i have the one from the 3tgte.

Is there any validity to this claim?

The bonus being it already has all the correct mounts.

Also since i have a w series (w50) gearbox in it already and am putting in a w55 will it be nessesary to change gearbox xmember also and if so to what type? I have seen that when putting a 3tgte into a TA22 you need to get a autotrans mount for the t50.

Basically, measure the Carina crossmember. it is actually surprisingly narrow, fitted one into my Starlet with slotting it in less than 10mm a side. It will however force you into a rack and pinion conversion and may well sit you motor in the wrong position. Assuming its a TA63 the crossmember is the same as xA6x Celicas and some Corona's.

I'm guessing he's thinking of the TA12 Carina engine crossmember....Will fit the TA22 but not the 23/28 without modification.
Just get the TA23 engine crossmember, theres one for sale at the moment!

I assumed TA63 as he said it was with his 3T-GTE.

Ok thats what i needed to know. Ill start the TA23 crossmember hunt her in vic rather than getting TA-022 to post the one he has down if i haven't found one locally ill PM ya.

Im guessing ill have to change the engine mounts to suit the 3t and then ill have to see how the geabox xmember goes.
