Agreed, I also envy his business skills. It takes skill to achieve what he has done on and off the track. At the end of the day he doesn't need to be the best driver it is a marketing tool for the company and a bloody effective one at that. How many hits to all the youtube vids, you cannot put a value on the audience it has obtained.

That's not the point I was making, because he does good skids a lot of people assume he must be capable of running circles around Ari Vatanen

Personally, if people want to think that, and they become interested in rallying, and therefore bring their money, and then bring business (especially from the US), then I think he's doing a good job.
Rallying struggles in this country (mainly because of distance), and anything that doesn't run around an oval in the US is classed as 2nd rate, so anything that helps its cause cannot be bad.

As has been said earlier, he has very effective marketing skills that are aimed at the right target.

love or hate him the dude sure as hell can pull a crowd ... and thats what WRC needs atm. if you could get .05% of the US population to follow be interested in rally that just a little over 1million- ish ppl ..

it will be interesting to see how well he goes in the coming years .

At the end of the day jealousy it what drives a lot of the hate towards him. Hell if someone offered you a drive in WRC extremely talented or not you'd be stupid not to take the opportunity. Yeah the stunt vids have multiple shoots it is hard to do everything perfect plus multiple shoots are required for the various camera angles as well.

He is talented, many of us could not execute half the stunts even after 100 attempts so simply sit back and enjoy. Not to mention how awesome does the car sound, closest thing to a Group B car in the modern era.

i was in no way saying that i or even anyone on here was as good as him. as stated above by someone else the thing that i find more annoying about his recent popularity is that there are so many people thinking that he is the best driver in the world because he can do big skids in a carpark, when reality is that most of the rally drivers in the WRC and maybe even lower could do the same.

i guess to some it all up in my opinion he is like the justin beber of motorsport.
