Default SDMA Hillclimb - 30th September

    Hi there,

Just thought i'd congratulate Steve on his 1st place in class in yesterdays hillclimb, the little sprinter sounded quite a lot better by the end of the day then it did in the beginning!! From what i remember it was getting down to low 51's so thats really quite good.

I was happy with my 3rd place in class (1/2, 1601 - 2000) with a new PB of 53.53 in my fairly standard 03 Corolla Sportivo.

Would be good to see a few more Toyota's out there next time, there seems to be more and more RX7's everytime i go

    51's, that's not hanging around!

I commented the first time I went out there that there were more running rx7s there than at most rotary meetings...

    I think steves PB is a 48.XX

So far the turbo setup isn't as hillclimb freindly as the SC...

Good news for me I guess

I was stewarding down there - it sounded like it was coming on boost really late, like 5000 rpm, not the most hillclimb friendly set up. He seemed to get the ignition problems sorted later in the day. The sportivo's sounded really good - love the sound of 2ZZs screaming their heads off!

    Cheers
Yeah, first day running. Had ignition problems early but fixed them
And boost is coming on at 5000rpm, way to late for anything but drag. Gonna play with cam timing to bring it back down to 4ish.

Cheers mate, actually only the blue one was a 2ZZ, my brother was in the white rolla which is only a 1ZZ - I beat him by 0.3s, last time he beat me by 0.08.

Shows how much of an advantage the shorter ratios of the 1ZZ are. Hopefully for the next event my sportivo will have the LSD installed, so hopefully we will see some quicker times now that I might get some traction

n/w Steve - I figured the supercharger set up would have been quicker, but i'm still impressed with your time seeing how it was the day after you got it back on the road. Your a brave man

Who else is coming down on the 28th?

Spewing now I missed last one - would have been good to catch up with you Fletcher and to see Steve's Sprinter run again.

I'll be there on the 28th...

New tyres are ready to go - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001 in 195/50 R 15. Should give me a little more traction. Hopefully some neg camber being dialled in before next meet.

Don't suppose any AW11 owners will be at the next meet? Still seriously considering one...

    Gents,
I will be moving to Canberra at the end of the year and I was wondering if you would be able to give me a point of contact for a car club and the hillclimbs etc.

    Cheers
    Paul

Thanks for that guys, looking forward to it. I did have a turbo MX-5 but I sold it and I am now building a Turbo AE86 with a 4agze bottom end. Not looking for a speed racer just something fun that is a bit cheaper than the MX5

    Cheers

    Nice choice of car.
In my opinion, I'd say that the AE86 is going to be MORE expensive than the MX5.....
