gearbox for 1jz

Im just bout to buy a gearbox for my 1jz that im puttin into my mk2..i priced a low km 5spd from a 1jz and they were askin $2750 bit exspensive i thought..does any1 no whether the 7m auto's or 5spds fit the 1jz can sum1 let me know..also if any1 has any boxes for sale cheers.

You can use the non turbo 5speed.
$100 for a celica one
$300 for an MA61 one
$400 for an MA70 one
$600 for a JZA80 one.

All boxes pre 1989 are the same internals/strength (bar ratios)
All boses post 1989 are the same " " "
Steel sandwiched plated ones are post 1989
(not 100% sure on the cutoff date, but its somewhere around there.

Then you need to get a W58/2JZ bellhousing and flywheel.
2nd hand maybe $600, new closer to $800.



Other than that you can get an R154
Ex MA70 is about $1000
Ex JZA70/JZX90/JZZ30 is about $1400
And then you need to get flywheel (and bellhousing if you get MA70 box).

You can bolt a W55, W57, W58 to a 1JZ with a 2jz-ge bellhousing.

thanks for the info..do all the celica 5 spds fit the 1jz because i have a friend with one for sale..not quit sure what year car its from tho..

RA60/SA63 and RA65 Celica's have the right box.
None of the other do.

RA60 and RA65 ones have the correct shifter position too.

One last question my old mans gutta 7m automatic in his shed with everythink still atached do they bolt up to the jz with out any mods or extras? im just gettin into cars so dont no to much yet :|

do you mean a mark2 or a mk2 supra? (Xa6x)?
if it's the later, there's already one for sale over in WA which would be cheaper for you to buy, and mine also.

i think you will find they tried to hit him for a r154! because if they want to charge him that for a w58, they need a big talking to i for one would be happy to ring them if that was the price for a w58
