Default BOV on a Diesel ??

Just looking at this dudes webpage about his 2.4 Turbo Diesel Hilux Surf

Noticed he had a BOV fitted ? How would this activate as Diesels dont have negative Vacuum ??

a diesel has no throttle - and hence no way of making the boV do its Fucken woosshH sound thing.

The 2LT does have a throttle plate but i think it just closes when boost levels are too high.

Apparently quite a lot of Toyota diesels have a throttle butterfly, it's something to do with emissions.

Still a retarded thing to do though.

If you just want the sound, you can activate a vacuum signal in some way from the "vacuum pump" (donīt know the common name for the vacuum pump used in Diesels). I have seen it done.

For example, I have a friend who wants a turbo kit in his car just for the wooosh sound. I keep arguing with him about the "non-sense" of this, but heīs still pretty convinced and heīs no idiot at all.

    mauhahahaha

i almost did it... on a land cruiser 4.2 DOHC-24V Turbo no less.. coz we redid the plumbing for it (why did toyota make it with massive enforced radiator hoses for intake is beyond me, but it leaks when worn).. i don't remember what the reason it wouldn't work but i was talked out of it because my mechanic convinced me it was stupid to make an oversized SUV go "pwoosshh"
