Default corolla ZRE152 Rear Brake Caliper

Has anyone had experience with the corolla ZRE152 (2007 in my case but I believe the same until 2015) Rear brake callipers they have handbrake included utilising disc brakes instead of a shoe.

I need to wind them both back in a little bit to fit over the pads, I am lead to believe that the rear left brake needs to be wound counter-clockwise (when looking at the piston) and the right/driver side rear needs to be wound clockwise to retract them, (the information was sourced from the Haynes manual)

I just want to confirm with someone who has experience because it seemed unusual to me that this would be the case and I want to avoid damaging the pistons.
