I would re check your timing belt, you may have a pulley a tooth out.
Hi there.
This is a 3sgte 4th gen A/T stock.
Engine runs fine (at idle or cruising speeds) since today.
But now, I hace replaced the headgasket and timing belt. I labeled all hoses and plugs. I have all connected. Injectors, Coils, MAP, ...
But engine doesn't start without throttle. Engine goes to 400rpm around and then dies.
If I try with throttle engine can rev until I remove the throttle, and dies. And I feel there isn't an smooth exhaust sound at 1.000rpm.
Here is my video:

I have spend all day thinking and checking all plugs.
Do you hace any idea?
Thank you very much.

Auto-reply.
After several tests and starts, it seems 99% an air leak somewhere. When I turn engine off (or close the throttle and engine dies) you can hear a smooth whistle for a few seconds. (It a similar sound when you drain the final air from a compressor)
I will upload a new video with better quality of this sound.
Any idea to find this leaks ?
I have replaced the hoses from fuel regulator to intake filter/map vacuum but no changes. I have torqued the intake manifold so I think there is no leak between manifold and engine head.
Any idea?
Thanks! I will keep updating.
Not sure if it is relevant, but I once had a 3SGE that did much the same as yours. Turned out to be a split
in the plastic pipe between the AFM and the intake manifold. It split right in the bottom of one of the flexible
corrugations and could not be seen until the pipe was off the car and held up to the light. The split allowed
un-metered air to enter the engine when the engine was idling and at low revs, causing a lean condition.
Car drove fine once the revs were >2500 or so, but I had to play with the throttle to keep it running while
waiting at the lights. Maybe worth a look.

Probably the camera angle but it looks like the cam on the left is a tooth out. You would no doubt line the dot up with the mark on the timing cover. Anyway sounds like it could be an air leak.
