Default Replacing 2t/3t cam bearings issues during rebuild

I have read a number of forums where it is warning against replacing cam bearings, particularly in U.S sites. They claim you won't get the cam in without machining the shells, I presume they mean honing. Anybody had this issue? I have a new Crower cam to install.

The correct cam bearing have to be ordered because there are undersized bearing for this application but finding them are like hunting for hens teeth. When this engine was new, those bearing were available for purchase.

That said, the standard bearings would need to be measured as well as the cam journals prior to honing the bearings. Now the old trick of cooling/freezing the cam prior to installation. In theory the camshaft would clearance smaller due to the metals reduction due to the cooler temp...
Sometimes best to let the machine shop perform that procedure.

Thanks for your info. I will be letting the machine shop fit the bearings, I already bought a set from U.S, just hope they fit correctly. If not they can order a set to suit.
