Wow, thanks! Not sure why I only got notified of your reply just now, must be my settings.
I've looked at buyee and other similar proxies but this one seems to be the most trouble-free, will give them a shot.

    more to come......
So, I need to make a small correction. .408" is not the valve lift of the new cam, the "new" cam is closer to .440" valve lift lift (original valve lift was .350"). Seat pressure doesn't change, just the pressure on the nose. My engine builder recommended about 100# seat pressures and about 220#s on the nose.

I began my search with SBI and their spring info charts: http://www.sbi-e-catalog.com/Specification.aspx (pulldown menu - select valve springs) we couldn't find the perfect fit..... close but wound* the incorrect way.

    * - as my engine/head experience is almost entirely utilizing single springs.... I didn't know that dual springs are wound opposite directions (inner versus outer) This allows the springs to bypass each other - even if there is a slight interference fit - if they were wond in the same direction one spring could interfere with the other.

After spending a few hours looking, and comparing, and not finding what I needed I called PAC Racing - they make valve springs for MANY different application. I sent them the specs I needed, and they got back in touch with me.... they DID have a spring that fit my requiremeents, the only problem was it was a proprietary inner spring for AFR. Matt, the PAC Spring rep, asked AFR if they would sell me 16, AFR agreed......

    seat pressure: 50#, pressure @ .440" lift: 85#, coil bind @ .585" lift.

bringing this up to date.... it's been a while... over coming obstacles... but we are now mostly assembled!

    Exhaust pushrods nearly horizontal...

and now... the adjustable kind - had a few rockers rebuilt, and reground cam - it was decided to use lifter preload as the adjustment criteria.

Next step (after making an oiling adapter) will be to run it in on a engine test station....

    One of these...

The specifics... at 500 rpm it's compression is 220# - 230# = it will not be underpowered.....

Here are some stills from the other day.... (OH... no issues with either coil bind, or valve to piston clearance )

Well... there is a waterpump gasket I still need.....* there is a gasket between the front half (cast aluminum), and the rear half (steel plate). And the only way to get to it is by removing the impeller - rebuilding the waterpump........

And luckily... there is a place nearby (Oregon USA).......https://marvelousparts.com/ Plan is a full rebuild, new seal, new bearing, new gasket the rest will be made to look all "nice and shiney"

Additionally....... One other oddball part found...... a new thermostat. Apparently, a similar* t-stat was used in 20 years of Land Cruisers... Gates has 2 - one is 190 degree (what I ordered), and the other is 180 degree.

    * similar.... https://www.amazon.com/Gates-33049-1...pe=all_reviews

how does the 5v compare to the 1uz in terms of overall size? Pretty interesting seeing a japanese pushrod engine.

Unsure about external dimensions of either (if I'm being honest) I know 2 things (dimensionally):

    1) the 5V weighs 370 pounds, and....

    2) the car I'm swapping this into isn't going to be easy.....

A bit further.... while the thermostat is essentially the same, the t-stat housing/coolant outlet gasket is only 5V, so I bought ($6) some gasket material and made one.

By the way, the pump is back.....

And on the throttle body front...

by notching out the bolt holes, I'll be able to run the Ford 5.4 liter T/B (70mm) on the stock manifold. The manifold is about 65mm, so once I've determine final location (likely pinned), I'll open up the stock manifold opening to 70mm.

installed a roll pin so that I could set the T/B on to the 5V manifold. Once pinned, I scribed the new opening, and opened it from 65mm, to 70mm/

Roll pin install - 3rd times the charm. Currently planning on using the EGR passage for idle air control.....

Nice work, but I think that passage may be a bit small for idle air control... You'd normally want 1/2" min or better yet 5/8"
There is no substitute for PUBIC inches
