The issue is that the RPM signal comes from the ignitor to the ECU and this seems to be the common theme with upgrading coils on the standard ECU. There are some people that claim to have done it but aren't very forthcoming with exactly how they made it work.
I did see this comment a while back although I have not been able to test if it works so would be keen to know if it does.
- give them power from the existing coils power supply and earth them (head)
- extend the 6 trigger wires from the ECU to the igniter (I assume this means from the igniter to the coil packs since the igniter already has these inputs from the ECU)
- join all 6 IGF wires from the coil packs and feed it to the IGF pin on the ECU and to a tach adaptor
- connect the tach adaptor to the tach wire for the dash
