Default Electric Powersteering - RN40 Hilux

Have dug through the forum but not found anything Hilux related.
Doing a 2JZ conversion on my RN40 Hilux. Have swapped in the complete LN85 front suspension including the thicker torsion bars from the diesel. I was planning to use the LN85 powesteering box but the bolt pattern is different to the 40 series Hilux and looking at other options to cutting up the chassis to make it fit. So electric powersteering seems like a potential option but basically have a single piece shaft from steering wheel to steering box and can't legally cut and weld in NZ. potentially can be cut , resplined or sleeved as an option. Or can use a shaft from a different Toyota to mate the power column to the factory steering box. The other complication is I need to retain the column shift mechanism . Anyone done a similar swap and have pics or suggestions on a suitable column and controller?
Non power steer is not an option with a small steering wheel to fit my knees and -27 offset 15x8 wheels to fill out the 4WD guards.

Not Hilux related but I found a Yaris column to be the smallest and easiest to work with, played with a few types before settling on the yaris unit.
It is splined both ends if you have the tooling to respline your original once cut.

I had an RN46 on 285/75s with a 330mm wheel, it wasn't as bad as you'd expect. But I do get the appeal of power steering.

Was talking to a bloke who races a mitsubishi Lancer in classic rally, an old 1970s one. It had electric power steering from a suzuki Baleno I think. He said all the rally guys do that if they are serious about it.

Thanks for the input guys. Have acquired a Prius column so will see where that takes me.
Having driven the Hilux for the last 18 months powersteering is not negotiable anymore.

I’ve done it with a Saturn vue column, on a te37. If interested I can show pics

The 86/brz one's are huge though. I have one here I played with for abit but the bulk was too much.

The rally guys use the Baleno unit because its no bigger than a wiper motor.

How did you go with your power steer? I've also got an RN40 and am thinking of doing the same.
