    Default is200 Fuel Gauge Misreading

    Hi
having issues with the Fuel Gauge after doing a 1jz gte vvti (jzx110) conversion on my is200.
serious fuel level gauge problems and I don't know how to solve that and the Fuel Gauge doing strange things.

During filling up at the gas station and with Ignition [ON] you can watch each gallon going into the gas tank and the small red needle goes up step by step.

But when driving it doesn't drop off for about 50km , then suddenly it drops down to 3/4 and keeps stickin??????

I had an older Toyota fuel gage sending unit that would stick. [ plus or minus a 1/4 tank ] After removing the sending unit, you see a small push on clip that holds the float arm on the pivot post. All I had to do was to clean the surfaces of the clip and post with fine sand paper and re-install with an additional 1mm clearance between the arm and the clip. A 2 minute job, and almost 2 hour job removing and reinstalling the sending unit. davew7

Have a hunt around the webs, you will find the fuel gauge counts the number of times the injectors fire and only checks against the sensors every 1/4 tank or so. Its a typical problem of modified IS200s where you use more fuel than expected. Also, there are two sensors, one in each half of the tank, and the passenger's one attached to the pump can foul on a bigger pump if you fit one.
Other problems come for a poor connection where the loom goes onto the dash cluster, or a poor earth.
