I would say dont put a 22RE in unless you plan to keep it 22RE. They arent that easy to install. 21RC can be found running quite cheap from a wreck etc. 18RG has some fitment issues in a RA60, as its near impossibly to find a front sump and pickup.
My opinion is to put a 21RC in, get an RA65 and do ya 1GGTE conversion to that. Do it right once and you wont regret it.
Also with the 22RE being SOHC, you could just get the cam re-ground for about a hundred bux.

Turbos carry 30 day guarantee. There is some play but not excessive.

I really like the idea of sticking a 1G-GZE in my RA60, as I believe these can be had fairly cheaply. From what I have heard they will go in ok without too much modification. If the diff is a problem I will cannibalise one from a Hilux.
I have a 1ggze with comp and loom. I can supply it with a flywheel and bellhousing to bolt it up to the RA60 box. E mail me for further info
