surely a VW flatty would fit, IT"S CRAZY, and there are plenty of them so it won't be expensive.

First of all, everything comes down to money. How much money do you want to spend?
this will then bring into perspective what choice of engines you can choose from.
also think about easy of fitment, replacement parts, fabrication if needed, gearbox'sand diffs, managment systems, rego and insurance, etc.....before you know it, your 30,000 down and .it soon starts blowing out from the original idea of a simple engine change.

so I ask you, what do you really want, and think logicaly and sensibly about it before you answer.
    Regards
    Ben

    hey

im having the same dilema what should i do with my ta22?

the 2t i have isnt exciting by anyones standards, but it does move the car quite well, the 2t/3tg hybrid is alright from what ive heard, drop straigh in, talk to sillycar chick for more details on that.

A 4age like in the newer rolla's will give you a bit of get up n' go, no huge structural mods for that one, need to convert from fwd to rwd (heater hoses, water pump etc), the GZE will give ya a nice kick in the pants so to speak.

1g more power than you can poke a stick at, especially in a car <1000kg but in a '22 you're gonna need to massage the firewall some, new diff g/box brake and suspension upgrades, and dont count on being able to make it around corners easily.

The 3s and all variants of that engine, more than enough power to get you goin fast, but as with the 4AGE rwd conversion is needed, its also not very cheap engine, as with 1g and 4AGZE looking at brake, g/box, diff, suspension upgrades

personally im looking at a ca18de conversion into my celica, yes i know its dirty nissan but its free dirty nissan, that and im a turbo pussy, but i have to look into it more,

that being said you should be looking into it, rather than asking, its bin covered before, and its been covered now, use the search button, god help you all if i have to type that much again

    luke

ps:converson and cheap dont go in the same sentence, neither does power and cheap, money makes the car go fast

not only defining the words crazy and not at high expense could you specifiy what gen celica you have,

if you want crazy i would consider a 351 or someshit in a 1st gen, but then again a 20B would slot in there nicely, so does a 1G,1JZGTE????

little more info is what you need and also some common courtisy wouldn't go astray.

I suppose follow the now well-trodden path of a 4AG turbo and you can't really go wrong. Do brakes and suspension, W gearbox, Hilux diff and it should do the job fairly well.

is it wookie season or what?
I'm assuming you're on -9 rep for a pretty good reason, but if you tell us what "crazy" means (acceleration, cornering, braking) and what your budget is.. then just maybe we'll help you
