    Default 1GGTE single turbo CT26 conversion ?

    Hey guys, im looking at buying another Z20 possibly for $2k, today or tomorrow sometime.

    I went to look at it for Cruzsida on thursday and the dude is leaving perth on Tues and has to get rid of it, but for all i know he'd sold it over the weekend. so ill call him today and see if he wants $2k for it.
    Anyway , its a GZ20-L with a Gen3 1G converted to single turbo , but ........ the turbo in it is a CT26 from a 7m ( i think )
    i know the CT26 off the GT4 is the better one , but with this one on the engine being a 2L would there be much risk in buying it ?

    when i had a look at it , there was a bit of a leak on the oil return pipe, but the gent said he made sure before he drove it he would check the oil.. he hadn't got around to fixing the oil leak due to work commitments (and having to leave to go up north to work tomorrow)

    But basically , i drove it , it felt nice, is there anything i should be worrying about with this turbo on this engine..

    1G has done ~128,000 kms
    CT26 was put on at the start of last year ~ 5,000 - 8,000 kms ago

    Firstly the CT26 from the 7M is the better Turbo

    Secondly the oil return / pickup flange has a simple gasket that is a few $$$ from Toyota so shouldnt be a big issue to replace.

    also if at any stage the turbo has been starved of oil from the leak i would think upon boosting you would hear the bearing / bush as it would be at least noisy if it was on its way out

    Not necessarily on the steel wheel.

    John...fix your car. The only reason it felt so much better, is because your car is making shite power because it's got something wrong with it.

    Do not buy that car, it needs spraying, the $$$ bit is still to come. I repeat, fix your car.

    Nathan, this car has a lotta shit done to it, i mean , the TeinHA's on it are worth $800 alone... so if he wants to let it go for $2k , i think its worth it even for parts.

    Buy it for parts, take the bits you want, take the black interior, sell it. You don't need another engine, you just need a properly working one.

    when i go up there , ill offer the gent $2k in cash for it, if he doesnt accept , i dont mind. but a whole soarer for $2k is a win no matter what in my books

    Also , regarding the paint, hes giving away 5L of metallic green paint with the car .. so i mean , just need to find someone to spray

    Dude, spraying is the expensive bit. That paint probably only cost a couple of hundred bucks tops. Don't think it's not going to need reprimering, I see that car a few times a week, it's been in primer for AGES. The bill just keeps on going up.

    yeah :S

    i know its been in primer for a while , ive also been talking to ross about it... he said not to buy it too !

    so thats , you , andrew and ross all saying not to buy it , but i dont see what the fuss is all about when the whole thing i 'might' be able to pickup for $2k . i think its a good deal.

    It is, but I don't see you putting in the hard yards to swap out all the black interior and suspension, which means paying more money to people. Factor that cost in and...

    nah, thats coz the gb currently in there was working "alright" but now its pretty fucked.

    Meh, im calling him in 10 mins , hes prolly alredy sold it anyway :s
