I have a manual 99 1.3 (2nz) Echo, there are times when a little more go would be a nice thing. I'm thinking of dropping in a 1.5 (1nz). I understand that they are pretty much drop in, with the exception of the bigger clutch on the bigger motor, but that's still a drop in as long as you have the 1.5 fly wheel. I understand the engine is a little taller, this may have an effect on the engine pipe? is that correct.

My biggest concern is the ECU, I believe the wiring is the same, so that side is plug and play, my issue is the ecu / anti theft, I really don't want the hassle, has anybody run the 1.5 on the 1.3 ECU? I routinely run everything on 98 anyway, just hoping the extra octane might make up for any slight lean outs, guessing Toyota errs on the side of caution as far as running rich... has anybody had any experience with this?
