    Default 2TGEU questions

    Hi fellow toymodders,

Just picked up a reasonably fresh 2tgeu for Ta22, but missing ECU & AFM.

If unsuccessful at finding a replacement AFM, does anyone know if a compatible version was installed on other engines (i.e. same voltage output range)?
Even better, does somebody have the max voltage output figure so that I can use a hot-wire or similar AFM with a voltage modifier?

This particular engine has done only 27,000km before being removed from parent TE71 (no, not a misprint!). It's sat in a shed for 15 years with the occasional turning-over, but I'm going to strip it down and check water pump, etc and replace seals, cos I imagine they'll be fairly cactus.
Any advice on other issues I should be wary of with an engine that has sat idle for so long?
I don't really want to pull the head off, would head gasket be OK?

    Thanks heaps,

    Leigh.

If it's sat for that long, i'd be dumping all the fluids (oil, water, etc) and giving the cooling system a real good flush. Rubber hoses as well as crank seals are likely to be suspect - possibly even coil leads if the shed got moist/dry with the seasons coming and going. Fuel-lines will also be suspect.

    good find!

some of the older folk might be wondering what happened to the TE71 shell?

Thanks Chuckster, I sourced the engine with loom & starter already removed from vehicle, so I can't report on the whereabouts of the donor TE71.

Put it up on engine stand this morning, looking in remarkably good nick, but who knows what nasties lie inside? Cooling system was obviously already drained, with all pipes plugged-up with rags, so I'm thinkin an inspection of the water pump, thermostat housing, etc for corrosion would be wise.
