    Best event of the year
Also if you own a Historic vehicle/s that is registered with Toymods then you'll need to attend the show as part the requirement of the club.

Less than 2 weeks to go now, in true Toyotafest tradition I'm sure most of you will be leaving things to the last minute with many sleepless nights on the cards ahead.

As a friendly but important reminder for all entrants, please be aware that if you intend on entering your car into the show this year, once you are parked and the show has started (9am) we cannot permit you to move your car until the show ends at 3pm. This is purely for insurance purposes - we are insured for a STATIC car display / show.

If you feel you may not be able to stay for the whole day, it doesn't mean you can't attend the show, you just won't be able to enter your car. There is plenty of parking outside the show area where spectators can come and go as they please.

Thanks guys it was epic, not as many people as last year but I hope to see some more numbers next year. A big thanks again to the Toymods board members and admins that put so much work into making this happen.

A quick question: While I had my car on display someone put a mini 7th Gen RC car next to mine. At the end of the day they must have put it inside my car and I have no idea who would be so kind as to give me such a nice gift. If anyone knows who it could have been could you send me their way so I could give them my personal thanks.

    Toyotafest 2014 Results.

Well Toyotafest has been and gone for another year. And this year it was Hot… literally!

136 Toyota’s of all models were on show for the day. Not as many as last year, but it was always going to be hard to beat Toyotafest #10. It surprises me every year the variance in models that come every year, last year there were a lot of Classic Celica’s and a solid showing from the new 86 owners, This year the Crown’s, Corolla’s were up on numbers, and even a really solid showing from the MR2 guys.

Several clubs came along in force, obviously the Radrollaz guys came in force like they do every year to steal all the trophies, but there was also solid support from Canberra Celica Club, Toyota Car Club, the MR2 club and several others groups that came along to get their share, which we love to see.

This year we had fantastic support from the Event Sponsors and changed up the trophies to include a heap of encouragement awards for those cars that stood out to the judges on the day. For whatever reason. Encouragement awards as follows:

    Entrant No. 98 – Antony Gymellas – Lexus IS200
Entrant No. 45 – Windsor Suen – 2001 Echo Sportivo
    Entrant No. 14 – James Linney – 1983 MA61 Supra (2JZ-GTE)
    Entrant No. 18 – Shaun Mejlak – 1984 AE86 Trueno – 86FURY
    Entrant No. 100 – Ben Folks – Radrollaz – 1972 KE20 Corolla
    Entrant No. 119 – Matt Ellard – 1974 TA22 Celica (3TGTEU)
    Entrant No. 36 – Will – AU Starlet Club – 1989 EP71 Starlet
    Entrant No. 133 – Richard Blake – 1976 KE30 Corolla.
    Entrant No. 40 – Bassim Abdallah – 1989 Supra 2JZ-GTE
    Entrant No. 34 – Eric Watton – 1988 AE91 Corolla.

All of the above encouragement awards received an Encouragement Medallion Sponsored by Bendix. And a prize pack supplied by Bendix, Meguiars & Liqui-Moly.

Judging for the main trophy categories took place throughout the day and in some classes the judging was quite close. The awards ceremony was delayed slightly whilst the judges split hairs over 2 classes in particular.
This year Bendix came on board as main trophies sponsor and also supplied the pens and goodies in the entrants goodie bags, which was great as there was not excuse for not having a pen for filling in the entrants choice form!

The results for the Main Trophy Classes as follows:

Best Original Classic – Best / most original Toyota Pre 1980.
    Entrant No. 25 – Noel Mckay – Toyota Car Club – 1964 Tiara RT20

Best Modern Original – Best / Most Original model available between 1981 – 2000
    Entrant No. 52 – Chris Heaven – Toymods – 2000 JZS171 Crown

Top Late Model– Best Late model post 2000
    Entrant No. 75 – Travis Dean – 2002 JZX110W

Best Commercial – Best overall mini truck, ute, van etc.
Entrant No. 103 – R Jelfs – Toyota Car Club – 1973 Corolla Panel Van

WTF Award – The “That’s not meant to be” Award. Most adventurous modification.
Entrant No. 15 – Ernest Hudson – 1975 TA22 Celica (Cleveland V8 road registered Drag Car)

I’d Drive it Award – A good Combination of Style and modifications as an everyday car.
    Entrant No.102 – Wayne Carlson – 1985 MA61 Supra (2JZ-GTE)

Street Sleeper Award – Most deceptively high performance car
    Entrant No.80 – Mitchell Pluimers-Black – Radrollaz – 1978 KE30 Corolla (SR20DET)

    Entrant No.39 – Michael Cranfield – 1977 RA28 Celica (1G-GTE)

    Entrant No.90 – Mark Musumeci – Radrollaz – 1971 KE20 Corolla (4A-GTE)

Best Engineered Award – Car best engineered for its purpose.
    Entrant No.15 – Ernest Hudson – 1975 TA22 Celica

    Entrant No. 23 – Gavin Armour – 1966 MS46 Crown Ute

JDM Wheels Award – Best Suited wheels
    Entrant No.107 – Kye Stubbs – 1977 Corolla CS

Entrants Choice Award – Additional Prize by Auto Perfection Detailing & Pymble Smash

    Entrant No.84 – Jason Lowe – Radrollaz – 1974 KE20 Corolla

Top Hatch – Highest overall scoring hatchback
    Entrant No.69 – Jason Gatt – 1986 Corolla FXGT

Top Coupe – Highest overall scoring Coupe
    Entrant No.72 – Michael Losquino – Radrollaz – 1975 KE30

Best Of Show – Highest overall scoring vehicle
    Entrant No.72 – Michael Losquino – Radrollaz – 1975 KE30

So again for the umpteenth year the Radrollaz boys took out the top trophies, this year Mick finishing the holes in his KE30 to pip Jasons evergreen (or orange) KE20. As much as the Toymods board contemplates not letting them enter every year (or at least Mick ), as a group they have a very high calibre of cars and there were several that took out awards for various classes.

But please… Somebody… Anybody… build something to compete with these guys!

A huge thanks to the Sponsors of this years Toyotafest, without sponsorship Toyotafest would never have grown to the size and scale that it has, and the Board of Toymods Car Club wishes to thank all the sponsors for their ongoing support.

    Bendix – Main Trophy Sponsors – www.Bendix.com.au
    Meguairs - www.meguiars.com.au
    Liqui Moly – www.Liqui-Moly.com.au
    Shannons Insurance – www.shannons.com.au
    JDM Wheels – www.JDMWheels.com.au
Pymble Smash repairs & Auto Perfection Detailing for support & Judging
Dav’s Custom Vinyl – Supplier of the first Toyotafest Sticker & event branding & Graphics dude.

Also I’d like to mention the support from the venue at Home Hub Castle Hill that have been allowing us to use their venue for the last few years.
And a thanks to the Board Members of Toymods Car Club for doing their thing in helping out in the leadup and on the day. This was the first Toyotafest without Dav in control and even thou I’ve been involved heavily for the last few years, this year was hard.

And finally a massive thanks to the entrants and guys/gals that came out on a hot October long weekend to check out an awesome collection of Toyota’s. It’s you guys that ultimately make the event what it is, we just organise a time and location, you bring the awesome.

A Few things will change up for next year again, so watch this space.

    Cheers
    Simon
    Special Events Co-ordinator.
