Default Getting a key cut without the original

Is it possible to get a key cut for an ms85 crown without the original? I want to buy said vehicle but the owner has lost the key.

Easiest way I believe, is to remove the door lock / barrel and take that to a locksmith...

As wa5 said, only thing is make sure the door barrel lock uses the same key that is used in the ignition barrel

With My AW11 I had no key when I bought it. There is a code number on the drivers door lock and just gave the locksmith that. he just punched in the code and 2 keys and $36 later two perfect keys not copys of worn ones.

Generally with older cars the manufacturers didn't have the foresight to do that ..

The MS85 should have the number stamped on the key barrel,my MS55 does and so does my RT40 and most of the other Toyotas I have owned over the last 30yrs have.

Some locksmiths are able to make a key from scratch to fit any Barrel. I know one in Perth who did this for me, very impressed.
