    Eventfull day.

First I descide to check the timing chain marks against my spare engine, as I didnt trust the Toyota service manual and the marks are crazy.
What do you know, the manual is wrong by a tooth on the left bank. OK now the timing cover is glued on, I take the tensioner out, have to rotate the motor a bit to get the the flat part of the exhaust cam wheel to get the chain to slip a tooth. Go to put the chain tensioner back on - SNAP F*CK another both snapped.

Good and proper this time, flat with the head. No vice grips had a chance. OK time to try the easy-outs I have never opened. Drill goes into stub easy, easy out in, force of Thor to get the stub out, but I did it

Picked up the sump from the head shop (machined flat).
Went nuts with the blue goo and put the sump on. Looks good.

Ready to fit the custom NPC flywheel, but I cannot find the starter motor anywhere!! I want to check the flywheel offset.

Flipped the motor over and it fell off the trolley. Thanks to my wife to help me get a 150kg engine back onto the trolley

Next step, paint and fit rocker covers, coil packs, wiring, flywheel and clutch, altinator, aircon, PS, start welding / sorting RWD water pipes, then fit gearbox.
Cant make a plenum or exhaust manifolds till its in the car

    Flywheel and clutch on
Next issue! The clutch fork is too far back. I will have to bend and weld it. Also need to check the throwout bearing doesnt slide off the tube.

Went back to NPC, the next size up spigot bearing sticks out 17mm further!! I got it, put it in, and it looks like it will work. There is about 3mm of travel left in the slave before it hits the end.

Hooked up 99% of the wiring, new plugs ($155 at Repco!!) New belt (wow who came up with that snake idea??)
Had to space the starter back 3mm using washers

Couldnt get oil pressure (had a VVT feed line off). In the end after cranking till battery went flat, I syringed about half a litre down the VVT feed line to fill up the oil filter, Hand cranked the motor backwards for a while, then cranked forwards again, still no pressure. Put a rachet on (no spark plugs) and spun that engine as fast and as often as I could. Eventually got oil out the VVT line

Using aerostart into the runners, fired it up a couple of times, looks like it wants to live!

Next few days I will make an intake manifold and finish the RWD water lines.

Well the rear water outlet is done.
Moved water temp sensor, plugged some holes, welded a pipe on.
    Moved the heater outlet

Not pretty but it will work.

I still need to put a 90 degree bend on the stainless heater line, add mounting tabs for the long alloy pipe and plumb the bypass line to the water pump. Also need to move the water inlet so it points out then down as the radiator is on the wrong side.

Then I can start on the plenum

Today I welded a bypass nipple onto the thermostat housing, and modified the main inlet to go out then straight down (as the radiator outlet is on the left).

Tomorrow I will fit a bypass nipple to the straight outlet pipe and put mounting tabs on the pipe to secure it. If I get time I will modify the stainless heater pipe.
More pics after that is done.

Well got the stock IS200 weighed today.
    1469kg, about 100kg more then I expected.
Stock wheels, single 12inch sub and medium trolley jack in the boot
    52:48 split

Will be interesting to see the results with an all alloy V6 against the firewall vs the steel block 1GFE straight 6

Engine sold, someone is going to try and fit it into there IS200 rally car.
I ended up putting in a 1J from a JZS171 Crown, to keep things simple (took 2 days drive away, by myself)
Oh, the fuel gauge works fine, tacho and speedo have dedicated wires so they work fine, I lost cruise control and had to fit an after market temp gauge.
I made a simple air con controller (that connects to the stock dash) and gassed it myself, works very well!
