Thumbs up [DETAIL] BMW 1 Series Detail (picture intensive)

Please note; this thread is image intensive!

This little Coupe BMW M-Sport 125 arrived to us in a pretty average state, considering this was recently purchased and sold to the new owner in the condition you see below!

What can be seen and found was heavy water spotting, dirt and other contaminants throughout the whole body and of course caked on brake dust (Standard to BMW’s).

    ■ Full Exterior Paint Correction & Decontamination
    ■ Leather Rejuvenation & Cleanse + Protection
    ■ Interior Clean & Protect
    ■ Paint Protection
    ■ Wheels Protection
    ■ Glass Polish & Sealant

Total time of correction: Too long.

Due to the contoured body and awkward angles like many modern cars, we used a few different polishers to correct the paintwork;- DAS6 Pro, RUPES LHR15 Bigfoot, Festool RAP80 and the Mint Rotary Polisher also.

Combining these with the Menzerna Polishers (FG500, PF2500 and SF4000) which were perfect for correcting the BMW’s Ceramic Clear paintwork.

Paintwork protected with multiple products, as a test guinea pig – 22PLE VX1 Pro, Nanolex Ultra, Secret Squirrel 1, Dodo Juice Infinity and Secret Squirrels Friend.

Interior trim & plastics cleaned with 1Z Einszett Deep Plastic Cleaner and dress with 1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium which also adds a layer of protection whilst leaving the trim with a gloss-free satin/matte finish.

[u]Leather[u] received a deep cleanse with Leatherique Oil – in short this product being is applied by hand to your leather seats to rejuvenate and bring the embedded dirt, dye transfer and other contaminants to the surface to be followed with Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner to remove the dirt/contaminants (we must say, definitely our favourite leather cleaner to date! Left a beautiful completely matte finish and removed an incredible amount of dirt that wasn’t even near visible even on cars with ‘apparent’ clean leather!)

This process is usually only recommend for those who know a car they have purchased or own has had neglected leather.

1Z Einszett Leather Care applied once the seats were dry to bring back that original BMW leather scent (BMW owners will know what we are talking about), as well adding the final touch of soft and supple leather feeling once like it was when new. Protected & Sealed with Nanolex Leather & Textile Sealant.

[u]Engine Bay[u] was cleaned with a mixture of 1Z Einszett W99 APC along with a combination Vikan Engine & Surrounds Brushes, Mint Detail Brushes and the Vikan Wheel & Arch Brushes. Dressed with 1Z Vinyl & Rubber Protectant

Arches Cleaned with W99 & Vikan Wheel & Arch Brush and dressed with 1Z Einszett Vinyl & Rubber Protectant.

Glass Polishes using Nanolex Premium Glass Polish and sealed with Nanolex Urban Glass Sealant. This will offer sheeting/beading for water, dirt and other contaminants for up to 12 months almost before reapplication is needed.

Tyres dressed again with Dodo Juice Supernatural Tyre Dressing leaving a semi-gloss finish.

Other products also used can be seen throughout images below.

Any questions or information, please do not hesitate to ask us!

    Thanks for looking!

The Vikan Engine & Surround Brushes really come in handy in those hard to reach and tight areas!

1Z Einszett Colourtec Wheel Cleaner reacting & removing that brake dust!

VIkan Wheel & Arch Brush is perfectly curved to get in those guards!

And those harder spots such as Tar & Grease that are too stubborn to remove, Stoners Tarminator with a brush and soft cloth works very well!

1Z Einszett ColourTec Cleaner reacting on the paintwork, removing carbon fallout.

A strong solution of 1Z W99 APC with Mint Snow Foam used in the Snow Foam Lance to remove any previous sealants, waxes and dirt from the paintwork before the claying step begins.

Ensuring you use the two bucket method to wash the car down even pre-detail will help you avoid any chances of causing marring.

Onto the interior clean and leather cleansing/rejuvenation.

As mentioned in the start of the thread, 1Z Einszett Deep Plastic Cleaner was used to clean any stubborn dirt, oil and cream marks from the trims. Finishing with 1Z Cockpit Premium to leave a factory like matte/satin finish whilst leaving a protective layer.

The leather also needed attention, to which Leatherique Rejuvenating Oil was used to bring the leather back to how it originally felt, smelt and more so looked. Finishing with Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner to remove any excess dirt and sealed with Nanolex Leather & Textile Sealant to protect against any future transfer of dye, dirt, water stains etc.

Shown left is the dirty side of the trim, on the right below we used Deep Plastic Cleaner just quickly to show the comparison!

1Z Gummi Pfledge (Rubber Care Stick) was used on all the door rubbers/body rubbers to re-lubricate and condition them. This not only stops them from squeaking (common for VW, Audi & BMW), but also improves their life and performance overall. Useless fact; 1Z were one of the original manufacturers for BMW's rubber door seal protectant.

Leatherique Oil massaged all over the seats & applied by hand. Left overnight to dwell and bring the dirt to the surface, followed with a good clean with DJ Supernatural Leather Cleaner.

Comparison shots, showing corrected (after initial first stage) and uncorrected.

Lets finally move onto the finishing pics.. well almost.

Exhaust tips are something many of us forget, and it was clear the previous owner also had. Using some 0000 Fine-Grade Steel Wool and a bit of manual elbow grease, we managed to bring these exhaust tips back before finishing with Menzerna’s Metal Polishing Cream.

1Z Einszett Balsam Tiefenpfledger (Rubber & Tyre Treatment) was used on the grills to bring back a little depth and colour.
