The second one is a Tilton bellhousing that might be a really good setup. It uses a flywheel of 220mm OD. made for there 7inch or 5 inch clutches

starter & mount are at work - it will be a week until I'm back - I'll drop you a pic then.

just out of interest, why didn't you look at using the mazda kf 2.5 v6? they are a good motor to modify & really cheap to buy now

Well a mate doing all the wiring and ECU is a Toyota fan. Since I have 3 Toyotas I figured this should be Toyota powered.

    This really inspired me

yes that was a bit of an eye opener a few years ago.

fyi I know of at least one mazda kf with twin turbos making over 600hp in a sports sedan (was built years ago) motor, & gaskets etc somewhat cheaper than the 2grfe as well - I'm a huge Toyota fan, but with your donor car already being a mazda, might be worth considering, unless you already have the 2gr motor? (kf's can be pulled from mazda mx6's for under $200)

Some checking of fitment. I made the hat out of lexan cause its easy to drill and machine and was cheaper than an aluminium billet. I needed to get the rotor close to the ball joints so the caliper would clear the rims.

I am hoping that if they aren't too horrendous in price, I was thinking of using the race tech display.

From reading this thread, stil can't quite figure out the reasons behind 2gr family choice. I once completed a 4GR-FSE powered RX8 mazda, but the engine was chosen mainly thanks to its emissions, to make the car roadworthy. For a competition car I would probably go UZ or UR way

I figured that I would be able to get the weight distribution back a bit more with the shorter length block of the v6. Also the v6 is not quite as wide as the uz or Ur series. The 2gr has a really strong bottom end like the other two.
The Ur series engine is not easily available here.
I know it's not the perfect choice but I can't afford a transaxle to build a mid engined car.

My front wheels arrived today,18x10",so I got some old Porsche cup slicks Id bought a couple of years ago put on. The rims are an inch too narrow for those tyres so I will probably use the outer bands off the back rims and then have wider bands made for the rears.

Theres no engine so the suspension wont drop at all.

not the Austrack motor? KM reckoned it cost them north of 100K to develop... and then they put it in a Gemini...
