2 grand wont get u far especially when u add up the parts for tidying up and cleaning engine

unless the new engine is a straight drop in with no mods then u will need atleast 5 grand
and I love it when people say I don't need a lot of power just a little upgrade
if that's the case y do it
most people who think like this are always unhappy in the end for spending the money and for little gain as in a typical male the hunger for more power
never ends and if afew months u will want more power but u just blew the 2 grand on a 18rg lawn mower engine so u can either
spend 2 grand to make the car 20 % faster
spend 5 to 6 grand make the car 200% faster
what do u think is better

also look at how hard parts are to get
18rgs are old these days just search for people on here trying to get them running
1js are good but like the others said manual box is expensive

personally if u had the money I would go for an sr20t as its best bang for yr buck
then in 2 years save for a plug in haltech and boost it up and u will have 300% times the power u have now
gboxes are not a rip off if u break one too and parts are pretty common for these
if u don't want to spend that much money then go sr20 na seen one in a ke70 and it went and handled pretty good
its a pity Toyota hasnt got many rwd easily accesable cheapish engines where spare parts are cheap and plentiful

at the end of the day I think the easiest thing to do is buy a jap import engine that if u blow it up then u just go down to your local importer
throw em 500 bucks and replace the engine in half a day
that's y we used to run rb20det engines in burnout cars

these days the wreckers up here sell ford ba 6cyl non turbo motors four around 400 to 500 bucks with ecu and all electronic
maybe u can fit one of them

Everyone always says a 3S Beams but for $2000 you can not do it. For $5000 you would struggle to do it...plus enginerring which can mean a whole bunch of other parts...keep in mind, if this is your daily and you get pulled over and checked with an unrego'd/engineered 1GGTE or 1/2J in that Celica then it will be going straight to defect city!

I pretty much second what dumbass said No point doing the hassle and expense of a conversion if all you want is a nicely running daily. If that's what you want then take the car to a workshop and tell them to rebuild the current engine.

If you're set on doing a conversion then I would suggest to keep it 4 cylinder (3S Beams, 22RE, 4AGE) for the balance of the car. Also, while you can fit for example a 1J, there really isnt much room afterwards.

OR leave the Celica as is and just tune the Supra, problem solved!

Fixed. I suggested 22RE because it did come in xA6x as factory, but you're entirely correct dumbass.
