Unhappy 1 year's membership not really 1 year's at all...

I can't help but feel dissapointed to find out that "1 year's membership" only runs until the end of January the following year, rather than the expected & assumed 12 months from application process date - especially as my membership took over 6 weeks to process after being received.

Does it really have to work the way it currently does, and does anyone else have any thoughts?

the reason for this is to cut down on the paperwork for the board. Running this club is a HUGE undertaking, and they already spend loads of time on important stuff (making sure the club meets govt regulations, organising events, maintaining the forums, etc etc). basically having all memberships expire on the same day means that stitty is mostly bugged over a 2 week period rather than all year round

additionally, it really isn't a big fee, and once the first year is over it's all the same.

    Hi,

It can work the other way also. If you join in the later part of the year (say, August or later) then you won't be asked to fork out more money in the following January, but the next January. So, in this case you get 16months for 1 year subscription.

    *Steals river's spare P51 box*

I think Draven pretty much explained it all in his post. Regardless club membership is 50 bucks in the first year including a shirt, sticker etc, and 40 bucks every year after that, its hardly gonna break the yearly budget.

All this is clearly outlined in the membership section of the clubs constitution anyway.
    If in doubt power out

there's a thread somewhere where you can post which "too short" words can be added to the exempt list (or you could message a mod)
eg: you can search for w58, 2jz, etc

Thanks Draven for suming it up for me.

I can see your issue Stefan, however Toymods Is a alomst a 2nd ful time job for me, plus the countless hours on my car, and doing overtime so I can pay for my car.

I will acknowledge I have been quite slack this year, i've just had a heap on, a job change and a chassis swap/engine conversion within 3 months took it a little out of me.

The membership structure in terms of when a membership starts and finishs has been the same since the club was incorporated and is listed in the club constitution. There are several reasons for having all memberships expire at the same date including
    • Ease of administration
    • All members voting in the AGM for a year are financial members for that whole year
    • People do not have to try and remember when their membership is due as it is due at the same time everybody elses is

Sure it's not ideal but it is as good as we could do keeping it manageable.

It really is fine, I was jus tcompletely unaware of how it worked & was surprised when my membership packaged arrived.

I do think that it should be outlined on the membership info page.
