Sure it's not ideal but it is as good as we could do keeping it manageable.
    i agree with this wholeheartedly.

try keeping in memory two dozen clients and when their software maintenance renewals fall due, and to call them and tell them its time to renew.. thats hard enough, but 380 plus members?? that would be a pain in the arse. better to have uniform consistency across the board.

pro-rata'ing wouldnt work either because -
    a) for the 50 bucks membership fee its hardly worth the time involved pro-rata'ing it.
    b) there would be certain potential members that would come on in november/december and pay a pro-rata'ed fee (whether it be ten bucks or so..) and still get all the member benefits like a free shirt etc..etc.., and then choose not to renew in january. the shirts cost the club a bit more than 10 bucks to make, thus the club loses money which isnt what the club wants.

man im uber bumbed. i feel cheated outa my hard earned $25. I didn't read the constiution cos it seemed to long...almost like a novel, and it doesn't affect me cos i dont go to the meetings and all i want is my t-shirt and sticker so my car and i can proudly wear them around town on sundays. hmmm oh well it does make sense. I think this detail should be put somewhere cos not everyone will read the constitution and had i known this, i woulda joined months ago

    i got jibbed!!!!111one
I joined in like, August 2002, and only got membership until jan 2003!

    hahahah

Fair point though Stephan, and I rekon it should be mentioned on the membership page too. Maybe just a short mention that all memberships expire on 31st January along with a link to the constitution - this way you dont have to explain the whole darn thing on the membership page
