Gearbox Q's, JZZ30, JZA80 & early JZA70

Which series 5 speed manual came in JZZ30, JZA70 and early JZA80?
Is it a W series or R series?

JZZ30 and JZA70 both had R154 gearboxes. JZA70 was internal shift, and depending on the year, JZZ30 will have different shifter positions - early was internal and about an inch further back than JZA70 and late is remote shift position and a bit further back.

JZA80 non turbo was Getrag (rare and 6 speed) or W58 (most common) with remote shift and JZA80 TT was Getrag only

I asked the guy if it was for W series, he sort of side stepped the answer, said yes it for the early 5 speed manual soarer etc.
So its for R series then.
I take it the shifters are different between the R154 and W Series?

lol I dont know where he got JZA80 from as you can see what it suits in the pics - xZ20, JZZ30 (japanese bla), xA70 - going off that its to suit all internal shift R154 & W58 which are interchangeable and the japanese bla would probably be 'early JZZ30' as I mentioned earlier.

Remote shifters are different from internal but im not sure if W58 to R154 to Getrag are interchangable, though I somehow doubt it.

So R154 and W58 internal shift are interchangeable?
How does internal W58 shifter differ from the other W series, W55 - 57 & 59 internal shifter?
As far as I can see they all use the same shifter bushes?

i would say yes it should work... but fuck me 450 bucks for a short shifter... i could think of better things to spend my money on...

also i believe short shifters are not exactly great on the syncros etc

I have my eye on a few shifters at the moment.
Yeah, its expensive, but it would complete my set up nicely..
It is very appealing to me.
And I believe they don't make these C's short shifter any more, someone needs to take a good look at it and make something very similar.

there isnt much too them really...just raises the pivot point by about 50mm or so
