Default 4AC Auto not Shift correctly...

I put an auto box in from the ae92 series rollas into a ae82 series rolla now i have to shift it hondamatic styles but even then it misses 2nd gear and slides into 3rd, which cant be too good for it im sure!

i know it has something to do with a yellow wire from the box not being connected but i have no clue where it may go, or how i can fix it, anyone know of or done this before?

    Cheers Will.

    Hi,

Have you got the linkage from the carbie to the gearbox attached?

At the back of the carbie, in the 4AC, there should be a small lever that has a hole in it to let the cable (going to the gearbox) to attach. When you depress the accelerator the lever moves, pulling on the cable, which enables the gearbox to downshift and upshift properly.

If the cable isn't attached the gearbox will go from 1st to third and have no kickdown. As you have found out, you can manually select the gears using the stick-shift.

I can't speak for Australia, but there are at least 2 different AE9x ATs.

One is a hydraulically controlled 3 speed (no problem for swap).
The other is a 4 speed, electronically controlled (tougher!).

Chase down a wiring diagram from a 4spd AE92, that should tell you where the yellow wire goes to (if you have a 4 spd). Also, if you try using a 3 spd stick with a 4spd, then you will have the gears out of sync. As such, it will skip a gear somewhere... in your case it jumps straight from 1st to 3rd. Perhaps you need the correct AE92 shifter too. Better still, get rid of the craptomatic and put a 5 cog manual in
