    Hey guys,
I need some confirmation and suggestions for badges on my 72.
From what ive noticed on pics and read on threads, the 'celica' badges are the italic writing style of badge and the dragon is the one without the shield behind it.
    Like in this pic:

    1.jpg
Is it ment to be blue? is the green just UV/weather damage?

With the boot lid 'toyota' badge thats the one with the little dragon before it?
    Al la:

(Thanks to the guy on ebay selling this for the pic)

Also want to know what you think with regards to badges for the centre panel ive just restored:

No more 1600 under the bonnet so removed it and filled the holes, might even look alrite blank??

Build date is 3/72 if it helps.

    Cheers
    Dave

First pic, yes they do come in green but you can get the blue ones brand new. I would leave the back panel blank as it looks ace!

It is blue with a ting of green so may show up as greenish after years in the sun. My new ones are slightly different shades of colour so you could get one that is a bit greener.

The early TA22 had the boot badge as pictured. The later ones just said toyota. You can see these in the first post to this thread.

No badge on the rear will look nice as you look to have done a good job on restoring the light surrounds and centre panel.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, someone might appreciate the great info in here tho thanks to Toyman..

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between the struts in the early and later TA22 celicas?

    Cheers Josh

Yes the inner front wheel bearings are smaller ID on early struts. I found out hard way, someone put a early strut on passenger side in my Oct 74 model, bought 74 model bearings didn't I.
Believe change started early 73, that's just from information I could find. Someone may have more accurate date of change.

so I take it the struts from a 74/75 TA22 will bolt into a 72 TA22 with only different wheel bearings required for the hubs to fit?

    Cheers Josh

Josh, I'm reading through an old scan of a parts catalogue (trying to work out something for my 23).

From the part numbers for the struts it looks like from production date 7510 (assuming Oct 1975) the strut is the same in the TA22 as for RA23. This also means different spindle/stub axle size to earlier TA22, so you'd need later model hubs as well as bearings I would think. But I think the strut itself is a bolt in. (part no. from my reading is 48021-14013).

I'm not sure how this gels with reports in other threads that ra23/28 struts in a TA22 gives a higher front end. Maybe only in earlier TA22?

Thanks mate, seems more investigation is required... incompatibilities the one downside to having an early TA22 lol

I should have explained a bit more. Everything, from what I have measured, is the same except ID of inner bearing. The OD of inner bearing is the same in early and later struts so you can use early hub on later strut and vice versa.

    Hey,
Can anyone confirm a measurement for me please. Is the TA22 diff pinion (centre of drive shaft) 20mm offset to the drivers side from centre of diff length?
