Formula Atlantic chunky style for me too. I like the idea of less Harmonics. Thanks.

How bad is the potential increase in harmonics? Isn't it more a case of less mass in the counterweights, so less effective at dampening them - but you should be fine if the rotating assembly is well balanced? Or do you still need a good harmonic balancer as well as the thorough balance? Or even then are you still running a risk?

Balancing the crank is easy, any crank design can be balanced.
Balancing the counter weight to the weight of the rod/piston is another issue. The more balanced these are the smoother the engine will run. And also having larger counter weights will dampen out the harmonics better as well.
All race engines I would suggest running at least the oem balancer which in theory isn't really a harmonic balancer, it really just dampens out the harmnics produced from the alt/ps etc.

Alot of people knife edge their cranks to reduce the rotating mass. If too much material is removed your engine can easily kill bearings from the induced harmonics. In saying that the ones we are making still have a fairly good weight to them and would not be an issue.

Thinking about doing a billet alloy crank girdle as well now.
    Who would be keen?
It would lower the sump down around 10-12mm.

Only issue is custom arp main studs would be needed.

    Yeah thats the go

ive showed GB to some ppl and some have reservations about the strength of the 7 block my answer to them is its a good buy and the money saved could be put towards a crank girdle

    7a blocks are damn strong.
Even adding crank cap add ons will help alot. But a girdle is going to be the best option.
We will come up with a girdle which will be very affordable and not some crazy ridiculous price

Could be keen. Price dependant tho due to the ratio of cost vs sharpness of objects thrown by wifey

All apart of Bazda's plans for world domination

All these insane builds will delivery a power output so high it will rotate the earth to a new axis and New Zealand will geologically become the new Japan
