As in wider rise in the bonnet?
Thanks for the link. It doesn't look to have much more clearance than the d max one unfortunately. I need it wider not taller.
As in wider rise in the bonnet?
N/A for life...
Yes exactly.
Just need to make the rest of it like that. Sticking with a silver thats very close to the actual factory silver when I paint it, its going to be silver all over and aluminium for most things.
Yes the trd charger option sounds cool but its a really half arsed design. If I were to boost it I would do it much differently, but this is all about NA.
The TRD kit is expensive and wouldnt even fit in rwd at all. Its a kinda shit.
Watching this eagerly, I've just picked up a short block to start a proof of concept putting a 2AZ into my 205.
I assume you mean st205?
Hey thats cool, and it would be pretty straight forward, being that the 2az replaces the 5s and shars a lot of the bellhousing pattern with the Y/S/VZ/MZ family of patterns. It will locate centrally on the dowels, so its just a matter of adapting the manifolds. I dont know about clearance around 4wd boxes or anything like that though.
I know a lot of people have put them in mr2 sw20 so i think you should find it pretty easy.
Yep thats not happening. I'm not sure what transmission people are using in the mr2 (perhaps stock ones??) but no way in christmas a 2az will mate up to a GT-four bellhousing. The bolt spacings (from crank/input shaft) are bigger by about 15mm on the 2az, none of the bolts line up etc. The two major bolts at the top of the engine are further apart by 20mm on the 2az.
Also the engine interferes with the transfer case, I suspect with careful work with a grinder that could be made possible.
However I shall keep trying, perhaps along sandwich plate ideas.
I will keep and eye out on your thread with great interest.
Could probably make most of the clearance you need by cutting into the alloy andwhich plate area that I cut to fit the starter, but Im not 100% sure, the steel s blocks are narrow compared the 2az, with its upper and lower crankcases.
Did some polishing while the car is away for the tailshaft and a few pre paint body tweaks and repairs.
I die ground away some ribs around the engine mount boss on the timing cover because it allowed me a much better polish job and wasnt needed for strength in rwd configuration. Why not save a few grams.
