Mark, could you say a couple words on your fuel system? Have you added return line and external regulator, or do you run in-tank return line and factory 1uz-vvti FPR?

Hi George, all of the regulator etc is under the rear of the car. It goes from the original fuel pump, through a fuel filter and then to a tee-piece. One hose goes from the tee up to the engine and the other goes to a fuel pressure regulator and then into the return line back into the fuel tank. If you need any further explaination let me know and I'll take a photo.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Thanks Mark! Could you take a picture of the regulator? Is it factory BMW thing or aftermarket one, could you tell me its part number for reference? Have you checked fuel pressure in idle/under load?

Excuse me for too many questions ))

Ok George, sorry for the time it took to reply! The fuel pressure regulator is off an australian nissan engine (RB30), but it's nothing special, just a 3 bar (45psi) regulator.
If you look at this picture I will explain it to you. The black pot on the rh side is fed by the standard low pressure in tank pump. It then goes through the high pressure pump, and loops back into the filter. The fuel passes to the tee piece and goes to the fuel pipe to the engine on the right. The other hose which comes from the tee loops under the pump to the fuel pressure regulator and then returns back into the tank. Hope that helps!

Thanks! I'm afraid the picture doesn't help much. As I can see, the regulator is the grey cylinder right next to the high pressure pump, but I have no idea how the fuel is fed to/returned from it, and how the regulator is mounted. However you provided enough info, I could find a good replacement [more typical to my region] rb25de part (nissan p/n# 22670-5L310). It's exactly the type I was looking for - external mounted with hose feed/return

I have seen this little beast park around town, always looked like a stunning E30 to me... Never realised it was on here, let alone had a 1UZ.

Looks awesome mate. Tempted to sell the 86 and get this as a daily
