    Default MX83 cressida 1JZ or 2JZ??

    Sup.

    Me and a mate are putting funds together to build a JZ powered cressy, and we are wondering which JZ is better and what tranny to use (R154 or W58)

    Any help would be great!

    its easyer to convert a 1jz with a halfcut but if you have the money go a 2j? dont waste your time with a w series box just get a r154. toyotacressida.net will have all the info you will ever need

    i have a 2jz in my cressida and my brother has a 1jz-vvti in his cressida (both auto)

    2jz may be slightly higher power but the 1jzvvti is vastly superior in terms of response and streetability from my experience

    Dude, 1Js sound better, and JZX90 will bolt into s2 mx83 or so i am lead to believe. Then go single for dose and all round radness

    from my experience 2jzgte vvti is much heavier than 1jzgte vvti. Also, all the JZ series TC'ed engines will have pre-OBD2 diagnostics except 2jzgte vvti. Which would also in some cases need fixing immobiliser.

    Later 1jz-gte vvti (jzx110,jzs171) and all 2jzgte vvti are more prone to errors in MAF reading unless you run stock airbox

    Engine conversion is when you drive a shitbox which costs a whole LEXUS to own

    If your not chasing big power, VVTi 1JZ;
    Nice to drive, goes pretty hard stock, new-ish motor, cheap

    If your looking to make big numbers, single turbo 1JZ/2JZ depending on cash.

    Mate I've had both 1J is awesome for tearing up the place ( mine had 4.56 gears in her) but 2j packs a heavy hit mate even with the 3.9's makes my old car feel gutless
