Default 3sge beams conversion question, factory ecu

can any of you guys tell me if the 3sg beams factory ecu is a feasible option when doing an engine conversion.

ive searched around and found 1 mention of needing the dash cluster as its integrated and wont run without it?

has anyone set one up without the cluster if this is the case?

and if so how did you go about it?

    any info would be great.

    thanks

    Completely feasable.

    Cluster not necessary.

Ok great, is it just your typical wire up or is there something tricky involved?

You mean me? Thats just my signature (something that is attached to the bottom of all my posts). Its a link to my build thread so yeah, nothing to do with 3sge's

the 3sge beams factory works but wont be 100 percent without a half cut.
you will have problems with the idle rpm and ac powersteering lights etc unless you have full half cut with body ecu.
almost all the gauges worked accept the fuel gauge cause i dont have body ecu and also you will need to convert your speedometer from analog to digital somehow or other.

not sure if you'll need more than what's here but these guys are very helpful

    http://www.beams-redtop.com/redwiring.htm
    http://www.beams-redtop.com/blackwiring.htm

if you get stuck maybe try contacting celica_ra45 as he is a wealth of knowledge on these engines or just wait until he appears.

    things that may be different
    >thermostat switch
    >speed sensor is digital depending on your dash might need to switch it out, make sure you match the gears
    >digital tach signal will require booster for old dashes, there's a thread somewhere on how to make one

u just need afew relays and afew power wires and your done
dont worry bout yr dash till u get it running
u prob wont need speed signal to ecu

if its goign into older car u might need tacho booster

fit temp sender to motor to match temp gauge
and same with oil and your done
    wire up alternator
    piss easy

Also planning on doing a BEAMS Blacktop conversion into my 85 Celica - are all these issues mentioned reasonably easy to get past using the factory ECU, and could you list a majority of them so I know what is required?
    Thanks
