    Default CA18DET > RA60 Advice needed.

    Hey all.

I'm deeply considering a CA conversion as I can get one cheap. Curious if anyone has done it before or what to look out for.. A good mate has a CA18DET KE70 and I'm hoping to use that as a guide..

    Cheers - Heath.

If your going to commit a blasphemes act such as none Toyota engine in a Toyota, at least use a respectable engine like the F20C!

250HP, Naturally aspirated 4 cylinder. Want more power? Just add turbo XD

ok ok ok i'll chime in here, i really rate the ca18det for it's engineering and power potential, how ever like communism, on paper it's great! in reality an old tired ca is a money pit about to open up, i should know ive thrown over 5k into one in my ex's 180sx, when it ran well=awesome, when it didn't well that was shit..... it meant i'd be opening the wallet yet again!
My advice is this: sit down with a blank piece of paper, write down all the possible modifications you will need to make, put a cost to them (i hope you can do a lot on your own!) and look at the bottom line.......now after you have done that do the same with a 1jz/1g/bodgy turbo on existing motor/hilux motor/1uz, compare results and weigh up how keen you are......keep us posted which ever direction you go, sounds like a very different and interesting project!

who fking cares if its a nissan in a toyota
fking dumb fucks who are so fking anal

anyway no matter what brand the ca18 is its a pretty shit motor to work on
if anyhting goes wrong and like others said they r old
had to do a head on one many years ago and it was in a datsun 1600
prick of a job as the head area and inlet manifold has shit everywhere
you might get it running good but they are not as reliable as the newer motors

save abit more and go sr20 non turbo or save abit mnroe and go sr20t

    and like confusus say
going cheap is not the best way
ive upset afew customers this week by saying it will cost double to fix the fukups
in their car dont by a previous person hehheh
so if i do fix their car they would have paid tripple heheheheheeheheh

Hey, Nissan boys would bitch if you chucked a 2JZ in an old datsun =P Hehe.
Same with Ford in Chev and vice versa.

Nothing wrong with being anal re-tentative about keeping to one brand, Each to their own. I was the one who suggested the Honda engine! Haha. Hell I might be doing it later down the track...

ive had a couple of ca's and rb's for that matter and thought they were pretty good. make good power for pretty little mods. doesnt matter if there old. never heard of a rebuild? ive got a mate making 500hp though one and still going strong. i now have a 2jz and would never go back to any nissan engine ever
