Default Toyota "G" code diff ratios what is available?

I have seen may ratios in the 4.?? and 5.?? and I see why when so many 4WDS get modified.

As I have a 1989 RN85 they are no good for me.

What about the taller ratios in the 3.?? what is available and where can one be got.
    I would like a 3.5 or 3.25 may be a 3.7
As I have a V8 and a 4.10 gear set at the present the revs are 3500 to do 100Kph.

I would like to drop the revs to around 2500 to 2800 at 100Kph

I would like to keep the Hilux diff for now at least. I don't really want to do a 9" conversion.
I don't really want to spend another $1500 just yet.

As I have a LSD slip in all raedy. I really just need is a decent ratio and to rebuild my centre.

What have you done or have seen done to rectify this problem. Is there a cheaper than a 9" conversion to be done.
Perhaps cheaper options are available on Supercheap Auto Catalogue 4x4 sales but I don't know.

    MX83 has 3.89 diff ratio
My Celsior has a G code on the tag but the numbers aren't listed on any ratio list that I've found

    http://rsmotorsport.com.au/files/Ide...yota_Hilux.pdf

This should have all the information you need.
There is a heap of 3.7 and 3.9s out there, Cressidas and Supras have them. JZX100s, JZX90s, etc.

There is a set of 3.7s for sale on jzx100.com currently.

If its a G series diff, you should be fine.

I believe the Celsior has a 3.6, and I have one of those if needed.

You will need a different carrier if you are currently running a 4.8 or above.
Once you change to 4.6 or lower , the crown wheels are a different thickness.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I have 4.10 or G292 now and would really like 3.5 or 3.25.

Herus I may be interested in the 3.6 if the price is right.
I am really only after the ring & pinion as I will be putting my rebuilt LSD in to my carrier.

Yeah, crown and pinion isnt a problem. I do 4.1s and 4.3s for the drift guys all the time.

I can quite easily get you a buyer for your 4.1, as I cant find any at the moment.

The 4.8 ratio diff in the G series from Toyota has it's own unique housing due to a thinner crownwheel as has been correctly stated, also all of the internals are different with different bearing sizes. I would source a ring and pinion set for the existing diff and look at Yukon gears as they are probably the best on the market for the Toyota diffs with prices on the gear sets between $399-$499

I would contact these guys http://www.locktup4x4.com.au/ and speak to Chris to see what he can get for you. He is also the distributor for Yukon Gears in Aus and ships freight free. Plus he stocks "heavy duty master install kits" (read bearings, seals) which if you're going to overhaul the diff and intend on doing any drag or burnout work is a wise idea. Another suggestion would be to during the ratio change fit a Yukon Grizzly "Zip" lokka. These are like an LSD on steroids and give you the ability to use the car as a daily and drive normally yet also mean you have the effect off a spool for competition use.

Your only other option would be to go Ford 9 inch and the good news there is that Toyota Hilux/Hiace 2wd shares Ford 5 stud pattern so no wheel change needed, Plus aside from setting up the hand brake which isn't a biggie if you wanted to go 4 wheel disc brakes this is much easier to do with the 9 inch. I would speak to Chris and cost up the options of re-gearing what you have vs a 9 inch and go from there

I know there is plenty in the 4.?? & 5.?? that is not what I am looking for.

As I have a V8 and a C4 I need a taller set of gears. 3.5 or taller would be good.

I have a rebuilt LSD I just want the ring & pinion.
I also don't really want to spend $1500 plus on a 9" just yet. Maybe latter.

Give Chris a call and see what he can do.. There aint no harm in asking and some 4wd luxes have 3.72 diffs so that may work for you

The late model diesel Hilux's have a 3.5 A series, which are interchangeable with the older G series.

Thanks. I will look into that. Will just the gears fit or do I need to change the centre. I think there is some gears for a late model on eBay. they were listed for $650.

If I was going to spend that I would probably be better of doing a full conversion.
Maybe a diff from a Ford RTV ute they have an electric locker.

Any thoughts on which diff would be a good donor.
