They have to accrew enough for nose reconstructions as well as feeding his mime family. The dont talk much so they never need much water for their dry mouths.

I'm sorry I missed this cruise (all those years ago), but I remember Catalina Park very well. I have that course memorised.

Back in 1991 in my last year of high school, I got a group of 5 of us young chaps together and our bikes (racers) for a 24hr cycle marathon. The event was hosted by the local radio station 2KY and attracted teams from all over. None of us in my team had done anything like this before, but we had trained a lot for the event. In the 24 hours that we were out on that track we had every season and weather type imaginable (short of hail) and we were one of only two teams (from the 10 or so that were there) that managed to cycle for the full duration. Some others packed up and left for the night, returning in the morning, others just plain retired after the rain started.

As a team, we managed to ride 313 laps in 24hrs, second only to the local team who managed 324. On the bus ride home, we took off our shoes for the first time in a day and every foot was white. It took a few hours to get normal colouring and circulation back to our feet. For most of us it was the most challenging 24 hours of our lives. I'd love to revisit that track again just for old time's sakes.

    Amaroo Park
Drove down onto what was the base of Bitupave Hill about 8 months ago. On the right at this point I am pretty sure the Old Nissan motorsport steel clad garage is still standing on someone's property and the remants of one of the old steel walled toilet blocks is nearby.
From the top of the suburban street at the top of Bitupave you can still make out the layout of the track from the Sweeper down the hill to Castrol past the lake then on to "stop" corner. The rock cutting still defines the lower section.
Very nostalgic and could almost imagine the noise, sights and smell of the two stroke bikes and booming V8's of the day. Just over the hill early teenage memories of the hill climb, short circuit track and the opening of the motocross track very early '70's. many a great visit with some awesome motorsport viewed at what I reckon the best complex in Sydney!!!

Does anyone have any idea who took this photo?

    TVR

I do know who took this one.

It's really good to see younger people interested in the places we went when we were young, where we enjoyed the racing so much. I first went to Catalina Park in May, 1963 and I only missed one meeting from that point until it closed. I also went to some Rallycross events there. I'm too young to have seen Parramatta Park, which is where we often had our school sports days, while other circuits of the era like Warwick Farm were true magnets to our attention.

But I would like to know where these photos came from...

I do know the lower one, Kevin Bartlett and Noel Riley, was taken with my 35mm Praktica camera at the July meeting in 1965...

The other one, the start of the tin-top race, dates from about 1962, perhaps 1963. I may or may not have been there. The slide was one of several given to me by a gentleman I met on the North shore of the river at Port Macquarie about 16 or 18 years ago.
