    Default 18rg Head swap

Looking to fit a 253 head to replace a 230 head, are they interchangable? What do I set the valve clearances at and what is the torque setting for the cylinder head bolts?
I have read that this is the better setup for performance, am I on the right lines, or is there little difference?
Thanks in advance with any help.

Hi mate. Heads are a straight swap. Torque setting 52.1-63.7 ft-in. Valve clearances 0.24-0.34mm, ex .29- 0.39mm. if they are out, you'll have to measure the shims under the buckets and work out if they need to be thicker ( to tighten) or be thinner ( to loosen). Hope that helps. Consider using the 230 cams. Profile are suppose to be a little more aggressive. 250 head are suppose to have larger valves, stronger etc. might help a little.

Cheers mate just what I need to know. I've got some 2nd hand HKS "unknown profile" performance cams to go in. Fingers crossed!
