nah I shouldn't I just want to keep up to date.

I was really glad the power steer pump fit, as that was looking a little touch and go with the stock manifold.

The light lenses look great in photos however amazing and like brand new in person.

Looking good chuck pity dubbo evaded you

Thanks for the input guys, yeah no Dubbo for the ute this year. Should be fully sorted for Dubbo next year though.

Have to give Stitty a big thumbs up for all the help on the MS112 power steering conversion. I thought that was going to be a no go until I fabricated some new mount brackets, these allowed clearance between the steering box and exhaust maniii.

As for the tail light lenses, yep thanks go to Steve Millar on that one, apparently he has been clearcoating Celica lenses for many years, just brings an added depth to the gloss level on some old lenses. My MS65 could have done with that after sitting with its bum to the westerly sun every day of its life.

    cheers Chuck.

Is it as simple as a good cleanup/wax removal and then plastic adhesion promoter before 2 pak clear Chuck?

Phil, all you need is a damn good cleanup, to rid the lense of any wax etc, then a scuff back with a worn painters red scotchbrite pad, or some pre used 800 wet and dry. Clean the lense with a good wash in sugar saop and water, blow dry and apply a couple of coats of the 2K clear. Standard acrylic clear will also work. The plastic adhesion promoter is generall only used on the greasy plastics eg. ABS. Definately not required for the hard plastics of a lense.

    cheers Chuck.

That bling is very nice, and well priced. I paid $400 each for front and rear RA23 bars and they weren't done that well.

    Progress is looking good.

Maybe they just realised how long you've had this build on the go for Chuck, and adjusted the turnaround time accordingly LOL

    They look great mate.

After ROFLOL, Mr Phil, there is a comment available in the little red book of reparte, however this site has certain language exclusions.

One of the parts sent to Albury for repair, the bonnet leading edge stainless strip, had instructions not to polish after repairs, unfortunately they interpreted this as meaning that the part would be painted and gave the thing a very good linishing! Many hours of wet sanding with 320, 600, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000 wet and dry ensued, Now to clear a space in the garage to get access to the grinder mounted buffing wheel.

Waiting a long time for electrical connectors and fitting to arrive Ex Japan, so decided to spend some time on the sons TA22

Will be starting a thread on the 22 build as soon as the last coat of jam has been applied.

    Cheers Chuck.

Finally got hold of some ECU to body loom plugs today, now to cajole my friendly sparky into helping me wire the sucker up.

    Watch this space

Took the one busted TTE wheel in to Morton and May today, FUBAR was their diagnosis, beyond repair, so now to find another good looking set of wheels for the old ute.

    cheers Chuck.

Woohoo! Finally a result on those elusive plugs!

I gotta be honest Chuck, the fubar diagnosis on those TTE wheels is a blessing in disguise....... Surely they are way too modern for an RS56 utility, I know you can find something more period-specific to suit the car, retro-tech doesn't have to show on the outside, that's the appeal, right?

You are right Phil, the last thing I really need at my place is another set of wheels!, I have a set of old school ROH's that will work out fine with some new rubber.

The "Modern wheels" can find a use on the 1/8th mile next year with a bit of luck. Simon is buzzed with the possibility of running down the strip at Dubbo.

Will be great to get back into the shed to work on the ute, it has just been storage space for the last 8 months, god I have some crap to move though, just to get to the ute!

    cheers Chuck.
