    Default Oil cooler on 7AFE

    Hi guys,
Just found out the oil cooler hoses on my 7AFE have started to leaks. Looking to install an aftermarket oil cooler just to prepare for the summer.
Is any one know if our stock 7A or 4A sandwich block is equipped with thermostats or not?

No thermostats, it is spring-loaded though so will only open when oil pressure is high enough.

If its opened when oil pressure is high, is that means under normal engine operation it bypass the oil cooler as well?

I recommend Mocal. They have a very nice thermostatically controlled adapter

I paid around $200 aus dollars for mine.

Be aware they require a NPT to BSP adaptor fitting (if you wish too run NPT -10 fittings and lines)

And they need to have a 1/2 dowty seal on the plate/bsp side, which are a washer with a rubber 'O' ring contained inside or it will leak.

I run mine with -8 lines and everything is tight and dry (5400 miles on set-up so far) When I ordered my adapter the salesman asked me what hardware I was going to run (-8) and then supplied all the fittings and seals for the plumbing.

You may have to modify the engine mounts to provide clearence for the thermostat part of the assembly

the adapter was about $90, the cooler was about $130 (curved cooler*) and the lines and fittings cost me about $80-$100

Yeah interesting stuff about the different threads...

I'm guessing -8 & -10 refer to braided pipe sizes or am I way off ???

I've got a GZE adaptor & cooler ...but also considering oil filter relocation.

Since installing headers on the 4afe some time ago and having difficulty undoing exhaust connecting bolts, I found servicing the filter a PIA
