    Default A340E into MX73 Cressida

So I have an 87 mx73 track car project, stock engine and tranny have been removed, I have a 1jzgte sitting on an engine stand waiting for engine mounts before it goes in the cressida. Saving for an R154 seems harder than I thought, I dont earn alot of dosh. But im real eager to get the car goin so I can take it to the drags and have abit of a bash until I can afford an R154.

I have a few spare A340E trannies lying around and came up with the idea of slapping one of those in until I get the R154. I did abit of research and apparently the last model of mx73 actually came factory with an A340E, my cressida unfortunately got stuck with the A34DE i think its called. Now if this is the case, I assume that putting an A340E in would be no hassle. So my question is, am i right? Am I gonna have issues with the stock mx73 tailshaft or should it all fit? If not, can I use an mx83 tailshaft, seeing that they came with the A340E, from what I understand.

A340E will drop in no hassles (mechanically speaking).
Tailshaft WILL need to be changed. (or at least the yoke/spline will be)
Not 100% sure if the MX83 shaft will bolt in. If you can find one cheap its worth a shot.

Electrically you need to make sure the A340E you have matches the wiring loom you are using, as they changed plugs etc many times over the years.

to save wiring hassles ide reccomend getting an MV Automatics shift box or making yourself one from the guide on here...

unless of course you have the correct 1jz a340e loom and gearbox combo...

I do have the 1jz a340e loom now that I think of it, and a couple different a340e's to choose from.
