Default rear sway bar for a rt104 corona

my mate and i both have rt104 coronas, his is a 77 and mine is a 79.. his has a rear sway bar and mine does not. i have never seen another one with a rear sway bar and im really keen to get one.. his had the rear sway bar when he got it, so it is possible..

anyway just wondering if anybody knows where i might be able to get one or knows if one from another model will fit it,
    thanks

Do you and your mate both have the same types of diff's?

Im pretty sure rt104's came with the option of a t series diff (jap) and also a borg warner diff (aus).

If yours is a t-series then it wont have a removable backing plate (inspection plate). (banjo vs salisbury style diffs)

The point im trying to get at is i think the borg warner diffs come with swaybars, but i haven't seen an rt104 t series with a swaybar before.

1.either cut mounts and take the swaybar off a ke70 corolla sedan.
    2. put a corona borg warner diff from the wreckers in with its swaybar.
    3. contact whiteline and get a bolt-on (u-bolt style) swaybar for a ke70 panelvan (leaf rearend. s series) BUT the U-bolts that bolt the swaybar to the diff housing may not be thick enough. (s series housing is about 5-10mm thinner in O.D than an T series so you may run into a problem there unless you can mod it to suit. (grind housing, new u bolts or heat the supplied u-bolts and bend them to suit)

    4.Hope i haven't confused you too much!

rt104 chassis with a t-series rear end is likely to be pretty similar to a celica rear end

you could look at an ra23/28 rear sway bar for your car if it is a t-series rear end

^Is the code on your i.d tag "t292" or "t312". that means it had a factory t series diff. someone has probably swapped it at some stage.
