There are some thoughts about running a 6 Hour Regularity Relay at Calder using the 3km National Track next year, sometime around March, entry fees would be about the same as other 6 Hour events, probably around $1500 per team, your thoughts?

nostalgia is not what it used to be:
I am sure we could rustle up a team... we should be havinga 6 hour national championship.... calder.. wakefield... the island... winton
hi adam
i think that the biggest obstacle to over come would be the hire of calder
as we have noticed, there is bugger all happening there ,and when it does, it cost a shitload to enter anything
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
We have prices and it would need 20 teams to balance the books
.....give me a big dose of caffeine and i would think about entering......that circuit would put me to sleep.......long straight.....turn right....a couple of left and rights and then back down the straight again.....Zzzzzzzzzzzzz......at least PI and Winton have a good mix of both.........now if only those tracks could be within 30 mins of Melbourne like Calder is

It is only early days yet, but Sandown could also be an option, with both facilites we need to look at the whole pit situation for car changes.
there shouldnt be to much of a problem for car changes
sandown is easy
calder just needs care taken when entering the track , enforce a merging lane like winton
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
the two level pit/paddock combination and tiny garages would make sandown a bit of a logistical challenge.. but it would be easier now with the bigger apron out the back than it was previously
its so long since i went to calder that i dont even know what the pit set up is there. its not garages on pit lane though is it?
both those options would have to be cheaper than phillip island to hire, so i am sure the numbers can be made to stack up, albeit the island runs 50 teams to help their costs.
mg is running at calder this weekend
trak hire is around the $7000 per day mark I think I was told including aasa permit
we have been told $10k for the weekend, plus safety etc, we will get final costs soon.
it will only progress if the numbers can be made stack up and Calder's facilities are up to speed.
calder has a dummy grid set up
so the cars that are ready to go for there next stint are lined up , surprisingly enough in the dummy grid
it works well , pretty much like winton when we use the dummy grid near the scrutineering bay
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
It turns out it is $10k per day for weekends
Me too, too bloody dear me thinks, too big a risk
