    Default 1976 TA23. 2t conversion to Sr20

Hey guys i was wondering what I needed to do to convert my engine to an Sr20, my current engine is a 2t with twin mikuni solex carbies. I have kept everything stock but i want to give the car a bit more of a grunt, im going to keep the origonal engine and parts so i am able to convert it back to stock, but for the time being i want to be able to beat a ford van :L

You'll have to do a bit of fabrication work yourself. A quick list being:

    - Custom engine mounts on standard crossmember
    - Mod / new gearbox crossmember
    - Tailshaft will need to be modified
    - Liftpump / surgetank / fuel pump in the boot or under the car
    - New exhaust to suit
    - Bunch of wiring / plumbing etc
    - Might need a larger radiator, some new thermo fans at least.

Other things you might consider is replacing all the steering bushes, upgrading the front brakes. I'm assuming your just puting in an SR20DE, and not the turbo version. Otherwise you may need to beef up the diff, and you'll need a bigger radiator, and run piping for the intercooler. If you want to keep it all legal, you'll need to get the car engineered as well.

No engine conversion is ever simple, or cheap. Be prepared to double your expected costs.

Otherwise, if you want something bolt in, I've got a 3TGTE complete engine package that's currently in a TA22.

As Frosty mentioned, it's still a 4 cylinder, but a factory turbo item. For sale thread is here: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho...lf-Intercooler...
$2,000 shipped to a depo near you. A little more costly than the SR20DE, but much easier to install, and it is a bolt in upgrade. Comes with everything you'll need to install. This one was even registered in the TA22 with no engineering or brake upgrades needed.

If your going to bother spending that much money on doing an engine conversion, you may as well go turbo.
The SR20DE will be a nice power upgrade, but for the money it's probably not worth it.
