    Default Coilovers for a 1989 Hilux RN85

Has any one seen a kit or know of a supplier that could do coilovers for the front of my Hilux.
Something like this pic I found from the states would be good.

    Cheers.

I would be interested in this as well. I've looked into using a similar system to my Clubman (but heavier duty) on my RN90 to get rid of the torsion setup.

It appears simple on paper, new heavy duty upper suspension control arm (again modelled off the clubman) with standard ball joint (or one with same taper as stock), bolted to brackets welded to the top of the chassis rail. Coilover top mount would be straight forward once you work out the correct angles for your coilover.

The issue is sorting out your suspension geometry: caster, roll centres, bump steer etc. If you don't get it right then you are going to have some pretty quirky behaviour.

So if there is a kit that already has sorted out all these issues, would make life a lot easier.

I have been looking hard still cant find a kit. I cant belive there is not something available. So many bag these utes. Mac Donald bros do a top controll arm for $700.00. That is just crazy.
Anyway I bought a pair of ex NASCAR top controll arms in as new condition with screw in type (moog) ball joints from good old Ebay for $130.00 delivered. What a bargain.
The ball joint alone reatail for $200.00 plus.

I hope to end up with a setup like this.

All I need to do now is buy a pair of QA1 coil overs and fit it all up. Sounds simple I know

    Cheers Richard.

I'm curious what makes you want to go the coil over setup, as the torsion bar set up seems pretty good ??

I havent really looked into it, but i would imagine you would need to strengthen up the top shock mount a fair bit & maybe the lower arm mounting point too ??

Just relooked at your user name & i'm guessing the torsion bars are getting in the way of 2 exhaust pipes ...
